HAMMOND, Ind. (CBS) ? Armed intruders broke into a Hammond, Ind. residence Thursday night and duct-taped the family members inside and then robbed the home.
Police say the bandits knocked on the family?s door shortly before 10 p.m. in the 7800 block of Catalpa Avenue. When a 10-year old girl answered, they forced their way into the house, bound the family with duct tape and robbed them, according to the Hammond Police Department news release.
The robbers took jewelry, cash, cell phones and an MP3 player.
Before leaving, one of the suspects asked a family member for a phone number, saying they would call someone and tell them to come and cut the family free.
A red, four-door Chevrolet Blazer or Trailblazer, described as newer and shiny, was seen to have pulled up into the driveway and may be involved in the incident, Hammond police said.
